Struesel Pecan Pie Squares

INGREDIENTS: CRUST

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups margarine

INGREDIENTS: FILLING

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups maple syrup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups maple syrup
  • 1-1/2 cups pecans

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat oven to 400F.
  2. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, and level off.
  3. In large bowl, combine all crust ingredients at low speed until crumbly.
  4. Reserve 2 cups crumb mixture for filling and topping. Press remaining crumb mixture in bottom and 3/4-inch up sides of ungreased 15x10x1 inch baking pan.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. In large bowl, combine 1/4-cup reserved crumb mixture and all filling ingredients except pecans.
  7. Pour over prebaked crust, and bake an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Reduce oven temperature to 350F.
  9. Sprinkle remaining 1-3/4 cups reserved crumb mixture over filling; bake for 20-25 minutes until filling is set and crumb topping is golden brown.
  10. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired. 15 servings.
